What it actually is
A single-breasted overcoat with a notch lapel, made from a wool-blend cloth and finished with a smooth lining. Wool is what gives an overcoat its character: the fibres are crimped, so the cloth holds warm air and insulates even in damp weather, and wool has enough natural body to hold a straight, sharp line instead of collapsing into creases. Blending it keeps the coat lighter and more hard-wearing than pure wool while keeping that structure. The lining matters too — a smooth lining lets the coat slide over a suit jacket or a jumper instead of dragging on the sleeves. The cut is slim and mid-length, ending below the hip: long enough to cover a suit jacket completely, short enough that it does not restrict your stride.
