What it actually is
Wide leg trousers cut from a ribbed knit rather than a woven cloth. The difference matters. A knit stretches in every direction and recovers, so these move with you and never cut in at the waist or pull across the hip when you sit — while the vertical rib texture keeps the leg looking structured and long instead of shapeless. The waistband is fully elasticated with a drawstring detail at the front (decorative, so nothing to untie), and the leg falls wide and straight from the hip to the floor, which is the cut that visually lengthens the leg the most.
